Read this article about MySpace and Employment. See how employers are using social networking sites, such as myspace, facebook, and even google to find out the scoop on people that work for them or want to work for them. While you’re reading it, think about your networking page right now and answer the following questions.
1. Do you think it’s fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees? Why or why not?
2. If I (as your employer) were to look at your MySpace right now, would there be something on there to keep me from hiring you? Note: you do not have to tell me what it is, just if it could be harmful.
3. What future plans do you have for your employment? Explain why the field you are interested in may be interested in your social networking space.
Yes, I think that it is fair because they have the right to know what the person they are hiring is really like. Trick question I don't have a myspace/facebook. I think that not having a myspace or facebook is better because then when your are going for a job you don't have to worry about stuff like that
ReplyDeleteYes I think it is fair because the employer gets to see what their employees are like before they hire them. They could figure out if they are lazy, if they are good workers, or total party animals. No there is nothing that would keep you from hiring me on my myspace profile. For my future employment, I want to be a MD. They may be wondering what I do outside of my job.
ReplyDelete1. Do you think it’s fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees? Why or why not?
ReplyDeleteYes I think it is fair that companies are using internet to find out information about their employees or future employees. Just because you are not physically in the office or at the shop, you still are representing your place of employment.
2. If I (as your employer) were to look at your MySpace right now, would there be something on there to keep me from hiring you? Note: you do not have to tell me what it is, just if it could be harmful.
If you as my employer were to look at my facebook profile, you would not find anything that would make you not want to hire me.
3. What future plans do you have for your employment? Explain why the field you are interested in may be interested in your social networking space.
My future plans are to go into nursing. If something on my social networking page made someone think I was not caring or trustworthy, they would not want me working with other people.
1. Honestly, it could go both ways;
ReplyDeleteIt’s fair because if you’re putting on a front for the person hiring you then yeah, sure they should no;
But, your personal life is none of their business.
As long as you’re there doing your job, I don’t see how your personal life will affect it.
2. No. my MySpace is very appropriate & there’s nothing on there to hide. I think if my mom approves it, then anyone would. If not oh well I guess.
3. In interested in being in the medical field & I don’t know why they would be interested in my networking social space.
Unless they are trying to learn more about me, & trust me, they wouldn’t find anything on there that they won’t already know.
If I would post it online, I would have no problem telling you.
1. Yes because you’re the one putting information about you on the internet and when you do that you know that anyone can look at it.
ReplyDelete2. No there is nothing on my MySpace that would keep you from not hiring me.
3. I want to be in sports management.
1.) No, I do not think that it is fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees because the employees might be different at work then they are at on MySpace or Facebook. People can be a good employer at work but still have fun outside of work. I don’t think that is a good idea.
ReplyDelete2.) If you were to look at my MySpace right now, there would be nothing on it that would not make you hire me. MySpace is a fun place to talk to your friends on and I do not think it should be violated with things that are not appropriate.
3.) I would like to go into medical school to be a Radiologist. I think that I would be good for this job because I like to be around good people and work with children or adults everyday.

ReplyDelete1. I think that it is fair for companies to look at the employees or future employees’ personal account. This is because I think if those people want to broadcast them selves to everyone else about what they truly are like and do, then the companies should also get to see so that they can decide if that person will really do their job correctly.
ReplyDelete2. No my MySpace account is clean, that wouldn’t be the reason why I wouldn’t get a job.
3. During college if I am a part time assistant for a dentist office, before they would hire me they would check to see my MySpace to see if there was anything that showed them I wouldn’t be a good employee for that job
1. yeah kinda so that u know what they have done in the past places that they have worked at,
ReplyDelete2. if u looked at myspace right know there will be nothin on there that u would not hire me from
3. i am going to a vertianarian assistant

ReplyDelete• I personally don’t think that it’s very fair companies are checking out their employee’s work cite pages, if they want to hire somebody then they should stick with their first instinct of the person, and stay true to it, instead of looking about what could have been said and changing their minds.
• I have nothing on my myspace page that would question my boss, or somebody that would be about to hire me.
• My future employment plans are to get a job this summer. But years from now I would like to become a Nurse or Veterinarian. The people who hire me would maybe like to look at my myspace to see what kind of person I am.
1. Do you think it’s fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees? Why or why not?
ReplyDelete-I think is very fair that companies look at networking sites and see what future employees have done. They need to know some of the things that future employees have done.
2. If I (as your employer) were to look at your MySpace right now, would there be something on there to keep me from hiring you? Note: you do not have to tell me what it is, just if it could be harmful.
-If you were to look on myspace right now you would find nothing that could be used against me in the future. I have friends and family that keep their eyes on me and what I do.
3. What future plans do you have for your employment? Explain why the field you are interested in may be interested in your social networking space.
-I want to be a psychologist. This field would be interested in what I do online because they would want to know if I work well with people.
1. Yes I do think it is fair because all they are looking at is information about that person.
ReplyDelete2. I do not have a MySpace page, so no nothing on there could stop an employer to hire me.
3. I do not have any future plans yet, I don’t know what I want to do.
1.I think it’s fair for companies to look up people because it’s their job to know their employees. They can find out if their incompetent or a slacker. They can find out some of the things that their possible employees have done, and if their bad, they don’t have to hire them.
ReplyDelete2.I don’t think that there is anything on my MySpace account that would prevent you from hiring me. It’s clean.
3.I am hopefully going to college to become a Programmer. People would probably use the social networking page to see what I am like, and all of my characteristics. If I was polite, rude, kind, etc..
1. ahhhhhh i am thinking its alright that they do, not really fond of it but i think its alright because they dont want some wanted cricinal that they dont know there hiring.
ReplyDelete2. more than likely yeah, probably would need to change that.
3. im not sure, whatever happens happens dude.
1. I think it is fair but then again not fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees. This is because if you work for them, they have the right to know about you, and it gives them a chance to see what you’re like, and if your suitable for the job. I also think this is not fair though because it is your own personal life and they don’t have to know everything about you.
ReplyDelete2. No, if you were to look at my MySpace right now, there would not be something on there to keep me from hiring me.
3. I would like to become a photographer, and i guess someone would check my myspace for what i'm like, and if i work well with people or have bad pictures or something, but it would be safe, and wouldn't cause harm to my future job.

ReplyDelete1. Do you think it’s fair that companies are using the internet to find out information about their employees or future employees? Why or why not?
Actually i think it is fair because you have to be a responsible person, but there are certain things that they think are bad like you could have a picture of a party and they think its a bad party when its not. Other than that its fair so they know who they are hiring.
2. If I (as your employer) were to look at your MySpace right now, would there be something on there to keep me from hiring you? Note: you do not have to tell me what it is, just if it could be harmful.
Umm honestly i don't have anything to hide besides the fact that it says i'm clumsy or what ever and they might think oh she wont be good ha, but nope im clean!
3. What future plans do you have for your employment? Explain why the field you are interested in may be interested in your social networking space.
Well i wanna be a counselor theres another word for it but i don't know how to spell it! On my side j ob i want to be a photographer and this would be involved in my networking page because i could post my pictures on there and people could see my work and if someone cant talk to me in person i can be right there online to talk to!
1. Yes i think it is fair that they can look at your myspace because they need to see that their employees are acting in a responsible manner at all times.
ReplyDelete2. No, because i dont have a myspace
3. Well, i want to be a Marine in the future and I'm in the Young Marines program so an employer might find that interesting. I dont have a myspace but if i did it wouldnt have bad stuff in it haha. Dan Maciejewski
1. 1.No, I do not, I mean for one, if its your life, then you should be able to tell them what you did, not have someone who you don’t know go look for something you did along time ago.
ReplyDelete2my MySpace, has nothing about me on it that would stop me from getting a job actually I think I might have a better chance at getting a job, if someone looked at my MySpace.
for my future, I would like to get a job at a vet clinic or maybe a tattoo shop, id like that, I’m going to be an artist either way doesn’t matter if I’m a vet who does it part time, but I will do it.
